Do you rembember Dazzleland?
Does anyone remember going to that place which had that zig-zag rollercoaster high above the ground floor?
Re: Do you rembember Dazzleland?
Those kiddie helichopters were sold to show west still located in the mall. They used a crane to remove them thru the roof, now those helicopters have been converted samba ballons

Brisbane also had a similar one called 'Tops'. That was removed and replaced with cinemas.

Anyone else have their own pics or vids? They're very hard to find!

Talk of TOPS always reminds of the roller coaster and what seem to be such a waste that it was turned into a trackless trainprincess wrote:I am sure I posted something about that recently.Dazzleland wrote:Brisbane also had a similar one called 'Tops'. That was removed and replaced with cinemas.

Re: Do you rembember Dazzleland?
Here are some pics of the Dazzleland floors from today:
Fountain?
Track supports (on columns)
The bridges & escalators on the 2 floors have been walled permanently, rendering entry near impossible.
The Fernwood Fitness Centre & Dazzeland Coffee Shop signs remain however.
Even god knows what used to be on these floors!
More to come shortly!

Re: Do you rembember Dazzleland?
Dazzeland was a two-story indoor amusement park occupying the top levels of the REMM Myer Centre in Rundle Mall, a major shopping street in Adelaide, Australia. The centre was built between 1988–1991, at a cost of $1 billion. Some years later, the centre was sold for $140 million, contributing to the collapse of the State Bank of South Australia.
The park's signature attraction was a figure 8 roller coaster named Jazz Junction, its track running overhead, 5 storeys high. Other attractions included dodgem cars, a carousel, giant playground, musical fountain and train.
With the park's closure on 31 January 1998,[1] an attempt was made to fill the upper levels with smaller, higher paying retail tenants. This soon proved unsuccessful in luring the necessary foot traffic, whereby the upper level remained vacant for many years. The remains of Jazz Junction were removed during 2003 as part of the renovation of the Myer Centre.
A Fernwood Fitness Centre gym was located in part of the space during the early 2000s; as of December 2009, Fernwood has relocated to the Renaissance Centre (Toys "R" Us), leaving Level 4 entirely empty, with Myer no longer keeping the doors open on that floor, but they are currently open as of April 2010.
