New Ferris Wheel

I heard through one of the workers that the big Wheel is not being let to travel on Australian roads because of the size of it. If this is correct how is it that they manage to tow large rides all over America and Europe and not in Australia.

Laws - the laws for vehicle capacities are different all over the globe.

We are known to have some of the strictest road laws in the world - this is probably due in part to our widely distributed population - our road freighters probably travel greater distances than in any other part of the world to get from city to city.

From speaking to some showies I gather the road rules in Australia are over the top for them especially as they dont travel as many miles as the transport trucks. America has similar distances to Australia. I cant see how the Ferris Wheel can be more dangerous to tow around in Australia then anywhere else in the world. The roads certainly arn't as busy in Australia as Eurpe or America.

australian roads arent as busy, but thay arent as good either, i dont now the reason for the rules, i hope the owners of the wheel find a way to transport it easily other than getting a new permit every time they want to move it

I thought it was more than that. I heard at least 15. I would think about 8-10. 15, thats heaps. Imagine the fuel and maintanence to be paid to keep it running!

Is this the Skyview Wheel or another new Ferris Wheel being talked about here?

It would be expensive to move such a large structure but I guess it's balanced a bit by the amount of people it can hold at one time and its popularity at the events it operates at.

I knew about 3-4 for the structure. I'd be guessing 2-3 for the gondalas cause u can't pull them apart!

I heard today, that skywheel will be at Darling Harbour over the summer months.

I always thought it was a shame Wittingslow pulled their rides out of Darling Harbour. It was never a major amusement park but it had a good atmosphere. It featured the UFO, Dogems, Galaxy Coaster, Tristar(now at Luna Park under the name Tumble Bug,) Super Loop and the Disco Train(now at Luna Park under the name Tango.)

By the way, Skyview will also be at the Melbourne Show this year.

the bloody skyview wheel in japan had an accident. the carriage flipped over and the doors flung open and the people flew out and died sadly...

This wasn't the same model dave. It looked like ours but it was made by a different company. Made by busnick, the same company that made the one for sea world in queensland
