I had heard it was in storage in Adelaide but that was ages ago so anything could've happened since then. The Tassy Devel was a good ride although it never went backwards like the Flashdance. I'm not sure whether it ever had that capability or whether Wonderland just chose not to operate it in that way. I always thought it would've been better if the Wizzard's Fury had gone backwards too. Boy was that thing deafening when operating at full speed!

I'm certain this one was capable of running backwards, but being park-operated, never done. Melb Luna Park's is also capable of running backwards in manual operation, but is on auto control in one direction (and now very saddly limited to half the speed it used to in an attempt to make it more family-friendly, and probably draw out more life on the bearings) The cars would be lucky to swing 30 degrees out.

Tassie Devil had a big maintenance issue where the main hub bearings (possibly both) needing replacement, with a cost somewhere around $60,000-$100,000 just for this re-fit. Maybe this is one of the reasons for its current status.

An interesting fact about the ex-Wonderland unit is that it was also built by DanFab engineering of Melbourne, but is slightly smaller than the others they built. Flashdance, Luna Park Melbourne and I think, Mahons, are all 20-car machines, but Tassie Devil has a few less cars and is therefore slightly smaller in diameter (I think it's 16 or 17 car)

Hmmm... I thought tassie was a 20 car unit. If not it would be 18 I think...

It's definitely not 20.

What it is, I'm not sure, could be something odd like 17 or 19.
