Wow, so the wheel has opened. There must be something in the air with all these wheels coming over. The Melbourne one isn't complete yet but should be soon and that should be a good wheel too. Hurri, will you be giving us a review on the wheel? 8)

is this the portable Sky Wheel?

No, it is a R60 Nauta Bussnik Model. The same type as the Sea World Eye and the one in Korea that had the accident. The wheel is currently under construction and as of yesterday the big A Frame supports are installed.

And yes... If Princess or someone from AAF sponsors me the $15 to ride it, i'll go on it! Matt... maybe we should head down when it's open ;)

Dan, it may be worth a visit and a ride. I will try not to scream.

YOU! You screaming? I thought this was meant to be... MY horror ride! Princess, you might have to fly up on Jetstar for the day to film both of us on this ride...

Just letting you know, the frame for the Wheel of Brisbane is completed. It is just awaiting gondolas and ground work.

I am told it is the same wheel that was leased by Seaworld. (lease now expired due to council permit for Seaworld skyline)

Can anyone confirm?

Well... considering this is the same model as the Sea World Eye (R60) And leased by the same company, It would make sense that this would indeed be the Ex. Sea World Eye.

I can not however confirm that it is until the Gondola's are in place. If they are the same blue color then it would be the Ex. Sea World Eye. It just wouldn't make sense to have a new wheel shipped from the UK to Australia when there is one of the exact same model sitting around in SEQ.

I was in Melbourne in May and I took a photo of this one being constructed. Pretty impressive.

That would be the "Southern Star" Ferris wheel in the docklands.

The wheel I am referring to is the Ex. Sea World Eye.

The Melbourne one is 120m high, and the Brisbane one is just under half the height.

I am sorry, but there is something really good about skymaster, it is so good to have the wind in your hair, feel the sun on your face as you look out over the carnival area, (ok rain can be a problem), I really cannot put my finger on just what it is, are we now looking at another classic ride going from our midst, for the sanitised european models. :x

I'll have to ride skymaster next year at Sydney. Get some good photo shots too

I have not got any inclination to go on these new model wheels at all, Zamperla even commented that he could not see anything when he rode it one night, because it was all fogged up on the inside.

Not only that, but they are shaped in such a way where your view outside is totally distorted.... it's kinda annoying... Skymaster is great for photos.
