oh i just thought i would be more likely to get responses, considering alot of ppl on here own rides an might not wanna put this up in public... but don't worry princess no one has pm'd

but that was my suspicion scorpionSA. and really there is nothing much more they can do without specialist equipment to really test everything. my guess is that they check maintenance reports, do a visual inspection of stress to welds and bolts. and then focus on the crowd fences an evenness of the floor etc

Honest mate are you stupid, Australia in general has the toughest safety standards. We go through rigourous checks all year, rides get maintained daily not yearly, if its broke we get it fixed this is our livelyhood so we are not going to stuff it up by deliberatly causing some thing. There is alot more than just get there set up, work and tear down. We get in early in the morning do all our checks, every morning. We don't short cut, why would we invest Millions into the industry yearly if we just wanted to hurt people. Workcover every where do more than just check paper work, i hope that bloke you were talking about got the sack because we don't want him checking a thing.

Cheers OZshowkid

I am sure all the showies do a wonderful job keeping their rides in shape.

As I said I have alot of issues with WorkSafe SA right now so I tend to rant a little about them.

We have also established, that Showmen, do not want their rides to be faulty for them either, it gives them such a bad rap, more so that they spend a heap on their rides, they cannot afford to have an investment, go bad.
yeh i understand what your saying princess, and i know that Adelaide would be tough ever since spin dragon and twin flip, but to have been checked over an given the all clear on august the 31st, to then have a serious incident on 1st sept makes me very skeptical on how thorough these safety checks really are, i know how sloppy some audits can get done.. and considering twin flip was pretty much brand new, it could have been easy for who ever inspected it to gloss over it and give it the all clear.??

Then again i guess accidents can just happen too.

Don't get me wrong I love the twin flip, its such an awesome ride, its just such ashame it doesn't do ekka anymore!

Anyway if someone does wanna tell me all about these checks or wants to tell me to stop being so cynical, hit me with a PM.
cheers, Force.
You know dick !!

I think we should stop discussing safety - its making me anxious!
The face is no one would operate something they know is knowingly unsafe - period! Their livelihoods are on the line as well.

On another note, im wondering where slingshot has got to! It doesn't appear to have arrived yet --- and it is a little hard to miss.

Say what you like about me i was just expressing an opinion, that already exists amongst the general public. Whether i believe this public opinion or not is another story. - Like an operator wouldn't operate a ride knowing that it was not safe... would i be so crazy about going on them all if i didn't trust the safety standards and maintenance practices in place?

debate and discussion is what makes forums like this entertaining and engaging. And i think i got a mong quote burn out of it all too?!

wish i could help you out with where sling shot is scorpionSA, but i wouldn't be too concerned, it arrived only a few days before the ekka started. (insanity was there well before it).

Cheers, Force.
