IMO. It's not the best looking ride out there. But it could be ALOT worse. Last night was just FLAT OUT, so hopefully tonight will be a *little* bit quieter. It will also be good to see Princess again for the first time in over 2 years :)

Nice carnival, spent an hour or so out there, rode Young's Hurricane with, Hurricane, I would have to say it was the best Hurricane ride I have had, it is the first time I have actually ridden another one other than Durkins, (now Phelans) was really surprised how high it got to, it was higher than the Durkins/Phelans model, I spoke to the operator briefly, he informed me that his ride had longer arms than Durkins/phelans, which made it seem like the carriages went higher than the actual ride centre, very impressed. (ok so I took his word for it, anyone know this as a fact).

Cyber Party, I really like the backdrop for this ride, great colours, or is that cause it is basically pink and appealed to my princess side, I could not go on it, as I felt after Hurricane I could not do it.

Midnight Madness looked good, though appeared to give a very short ride cycle.

Sizzler, not working

Round up, going, I would not like to be next to anyone being sick on this ride. lol

Ranger, needs some work done on it, rust showing through paintwork, not looking very good at all, this also seemed to have a short cycle.

Hurricane looked very comfortable in his joint, everytime I was there he had a full crowd, raceway's are a good money spinner imo, this was also very early in the day, if he keeps going like that all day, he will be exhausted by night.

I have taken some pictures, will send them to someone, (any offers) to upload them.

Me... Exhausted?! NEVER  Anyway it was great to catch up again Princess! And I will be back next weekend for anyone wanting to catch up! You need to come back for your Cyber Party ride Princess!

Oh... and I finally got to ride O'neils Ranger and WaveSwinger tonight. And WOW! That ranger freakin FLIES over the top and was by far the best ride i've ever had on a Kamikaze type ride. The Wave Swinger was also running exeptionally well. Tonight was a bit of a dud night, wish the crowds were a bit stronger.

Anyone wanting to catch up on Friday, Saturday or Sunday next week just come over to the Roller Derby next to Cyber Party and say Hi.

Hurricane, could you find out what make Young's Hurricane is please, is it a different make to the ex Durkin one

by Hurricane
Princess, Young's Hurricane is a Ferrari Model. The same as Joylands, Bells, John Phelans, March's, Dragon City's and the Ex. Aaron Pink's Unit.

And Kate, I doubt my boss would let me away from my "office" as he calls it!

Um, I thought John's Hurri was a different make, not built by Ferrari. Man I wish I could get down there.

I have asked because of what the operator of the Hurricane told me that the arms on his hurricane were longer than ex Durkins, actually Zampera suggested that it may be another make,so I was interested, if it is the same make, would not be different in the arms, would it?

Hurricane, you may want to double-check that. Hurri's were made under at least 2 manufacturers IN Australia - one being Ferrari the other being LenMax (who I believe made them first - Melbourne based) If it was Pinks, then I can confirm it is Lenmax as I have some photos of it when it first appeared at Sydney Luna Park in the early 70's (complete with Lenmax written on the control box)

I always thought they both were made under the same USA Hershell / Dartron blueprints but anything is possible (such as a slight height difference)

More often than not, these claims are pure 'flash' - but I'm confident we'll get the facts ironed out with the people on this forum.

I know it is a bit silly, but I was really taken by surprise at the height that this got to, it was like an omg moment, then visions of the bloody carriage flying off, with Hurri and I going off to the big carnival in the sky

What about the Tassie Hurricane. I believe its a US built Dartron.
Isn't Pinks also from the US.

Welcome tilt. Ok, I know I dont know a lot, so what does that mean?

Posted: Mon Nov 03, 2008 6:51 pm
by Hurricane
Hmm... Well then I have no idea

Posted: Mon Nov 03, 2008 7:25 pm
by Zamperla
Yeah, the rarely seen Tassie one is perhaps the ONLY one that is entirely USA built (and the newest Hurri we have here) late 80's design from what I've seen of it (and does not give as gooder bounce as the earlier ones we have operating here)

The people in the USA don't know what they are missing from the original bouncers we have in Aus.
