Re: Gold Coast Show 2009
Yeh I was gonna say I thought you were out at Parkes. But its usually a good lineup there. Rides should include:
Zipper
Skywalker
Wave Swinger
Hurricane
Cha Cha
There will be more than that and that's whats been in the past. Will you be able to get a few photos while there?

Re: Gold Coast Show 2009
Cyber Party and Shockwave should be there as well. If I go to the show I can not go on any rides due to surgery earlier this week.

Joy Whizzer
Ultimate Party Machine
Wave swinger
Ali Barber
Big Wheel
Tornado
Dodgems (x3?)
a worm looking thing and a slide and there was still quite a bit of space left
I will try to get back again and take some photos as well

Re: Gold Coast Show 2009
Well after 3 massive days (I worked on the Entertainment team for the whole show and didnt get much free time), i was able to quickly grab a couple of pics on my phone, please excuse how dodgy some of them are. The Show was down in numbers on last year, and this could be contributed to the amazing weather, the GFC, as well as the fact that last year was the biggest show on record. I only managed to get on a couple of rides with limited time and limited budget. Sideshow Ally was very quite on Sunday and didnt get exceptionally busy on Friday or Saturday, however i have heard that it was the best for the showmen so far on the Gold Coast
Sky Walker - by far the most popular ride of the show (and most expensive at $10, and $5 re-rides), its been a year and a half since i last rode it and it still looks great and gives a decent ride.
Crazy Cars - i had a go on these at Ekka and love how smooth they are, the size of the track, and the speed that they go.
Zipper - I believe that it was Davis's Zipper, gave a decent ride, i flipped 6 times in a row one time, however the length of the ride was a bit dissapointing.
Cyber Party - (please excuse the dogyness) Had a good long ride, very smooth and intense at points in time, it didnt seem to have the full lighting rig on?
Ultimate Party Machine - It was smooth and looked good, BUT a disapointinly short ride time, a bit of operator interaction, they also dropped the price from $7 to $5
Pictures of the other Rides... i know its not classified as a 'ride' but the camel rides would have been the most popular of the show, as was the big wheel on the first couple of days.
EDIT: On Sunday a girl who was riding with her father let go during a cycle of the zipper and was thrown about a bit, When they were let out the father was really angry and shoved the showman up against the wall, the girl was taken to hospital for observation, but released later during the day. Occupational Health and Safety investigated and the ride was re-opened half an hour later.

Ok excuse my ignorance, cause I have not ridden the Zipper, do they not have any restraints inside the cages at all???

Re: Gold Coast Show 2009
PNC that's Blade's Dodgem Track. I think it may be Glen Blade's.
Thanks for the review mate, yeh with the Zipper, there is one big padded lapbar which is connected to the door and that sits around your stomach/pelvic area. Riders are also required to hold on at all times to the bars, yeh as you said when she let go she was thrown around. Hope she is ok

Re: Gold Coast Show 2009
Any idea how old this girl was?
I wonder if she wanted to go on the ride, or if Dad talked her into going on it with him??

Re: Gold Coast Show 2009
Nice photos. Ive been faceplanted a few times on the Zipper myself and im not very small so I can understand how a younger child could get hurt.
Re: Gold Coast Show 2009
Ahhh The Zipper Well as I've said before ... bad experience when my sister took me on when i was really young
Now if that machine is around i'm sure you will find me finger printS still on the grab bars I WAS HANGING ON REALLL TIGHT
NEVER AGAIN NEVER LOL

Re: Gold Coast Show 2009
Of course I know nothing about what exactly happened, but it sounds to me like a rather irresponsible parent blaming the ride operator. A responsible parent would probably not even take their child on a ride like the Zipper if they had any doubts about safety for the child at all. I hope the child is ok and nothing serious happened.

Great review and pics ChaCha. I'm still to try a zipper, but I doubt that I will see one at my local.

Re: Gold Coast Show 2009
Fancy letting go of the grab bars while the Zipper is in motion, what was she doing? Texting her mates or putting on lip gloss??
You let go of them, you deserve to get hurt. The father sounds like a loser too, the operator should have dropped him on his arse. "All care taken, no responsibility accepted."
