Thanks for that TopGunner, I remember Durkins bringing their Hurricane to Rocky one year and then the next year Force 10 was in the same place. Durkins mustn't have owned the Force long before selling it to Pinks though?

Re: Royal Show Pics from the 1990s!
Just noticed also, is there a Force 10 sign on the front of Durkin Amusements ticket box or do my eyes deceive me?? :? I can see a Hurricane entrance sign to the right of the Durkins box, as they did have a Hurricane with dark blue carriages at one stage. W.T.F.??? I have a feeling that the Force 10...

Re: Royal Show Pics from the 1990s!
Ahh! Pinks' Force 10. I remember going on it when it first came to Rocky in the late 80's, it was one of the fastest rides at the time. Shame it doesn't travel up this way anymore. Don't think much of it's new name now:Extreme Force.

Re: Rocky NYE Carnival
Thanx for your thoughts guys. Luckily I won't be getting any water through my place, Rocky will be in REAL trouble if my place gets flooded, as it is built towards the Range area which is a very elevated area of Rocky. So if my home gets water near it, half of Rocky will be under water! Unfortunatel...

Re: Rocky NYE Carnival
Won't be any pix from this turn out, Stapleton Park where this shindig was to be held, has about 30cm of water over it. Most likely Flood Water. As for those who don't know, Rocky is expecting its' second highest ever recorded flood level after the weekend.

Re: Rocky NYE Carnival
I'll see how I go with those photo's for you Zamperla, I don't think this Hurri has been shown on this site yet. As for most of the Sizzlers/Whizzers being hydro driven,I wasn't aware of that. We only get Marchs' Big Whizzer up here in Rocky and I'm sure that's one of the old style driven units if I...

Re: Which roads do our rides travel along?
I was cut off by the break dance on a small highway west of Rockhampton, I was going west in a racecar truck, they were turning onto the highway.. I was proud, as that is a super long trailer, but I'm sure you guys have friends (who are not as interested in this stuff as we are) who gave the standa...

Re: Rocky NYE Carnival
Bills' Hurricane is one of the American imports with the "boxy" carriages and their Sizzler is hydraulically driven and not chain or shaft driven which gives a smooth ride and not a jerky/clunky ride. I haven't seen any other hydraulically driven ones before, I don't know how many there ar...

Using a Lada Niva as the tow car? Those things wouldn't pull the skin off custard. The old skoot would have 3 times the power of the Niva.

Re: Music
Yes Tayz, I have become quite a connoisseur of music and bands since my clubbing days back in the early 90's. Back then there was a lot of "house" music (thank god that died out!) and moved on to dance stuff. I became a fan of this dance/techno music when I used to drive 3.5hrs to work to ...

Yes Princess, I'm a great fan of Barbie girl and Dr Jones myself. I still think you can't go past modern remixes of old songs. Eg:"Knowing me knowing you (ABBA) by DCX, "Summer of '69" by Mega-mania, "Final countdown remix" by DJ Almix, "Zombie" by A.D.A.M (f...

In my opinion, you can't go past Nick Skitz and his "Skitzmix" albums. He's put out about 35 so far and for an Australian artist, he is one of the best around. You want techno songs and dance remixes of old songs, well check him out.

Re: 2010 Perth Royal Show
Not quite, the Orbitor used to rotate then the arms gradually swang out on an angle where as the Energy Storm swings right out and eventually goes all the way up and over until they are upside down (facing the floor). Hence the over the shoulder restraints on the Energy Storm and not the flimsy piss...

Re: Wipeout (Chance Trabant)
I remember seeing the Frisbee parked racked up a block from my place a couple of years ago. It looked like it just had a whole new floor put on it and a fresh paint job and lights as well (obviously they didn't do the mechanicals?). I didn't recognise what it was at first- it had S.A. number plates ...

Re: Gladstone Show 2010
Tooheyz, the place I work at was the Rio Tinto refinery at the first roundabout from the Mt. Larcom to Gladstone Rd. There we used to get raw bauxite (the orange stuff ) from the boats from Weipa via the overhead conveyor. From there it was processed into white Alumina powder- which used to eat into...

Going back to PNC's post about not having your own ground, I have my own ground. A rather large backyard thanks to a bit of tree "trimming". Feel like coming for a run up to Rocky for a week-end (accommodation supplied). I'm sure I could drum up enough business for you. I know you won't ge...
