Re: A few unique rides I'd like to have in Australia

Yeah it ended up touring the east coast capital shows for a season. Pretty sure it was brought out here under lease between an Aussie and US showmen. I think it was around 1994.

I'd be surprised if the Disk-O does not appear at RES 2011 would do well if they can slot it in somewhere

Interesting. pretty spot-on ride parking from one year to the next. (the Hurricane looks like a kiddies ride from the air when its not moving)

Re: Christmas Carnivals 2010/11

Does anyone know if Bell's Swinger or Joyland's chair ride are towed by normal vehicles, or is it with trucks?

Topgun, tell them to drill a few air holes in that muffler - IMO it's a little TOO quiet.

Re: Christmas Carnivals 2010/11

Great work TG (better late than never) well captured for both carnivals. In many ways Bell's and Joyland's are similar - both companies put great effort in the all-important presentation and general up-keep of their rides.

Waterslide moved because of headless monk

I'm sure there are plenty of amusement park goers who would pay big bucks for the opportunity to go on an ride built on top of an ancient burial ground. After objects started flying around and construction workers experienced cold chills and saw what appeared to be a headless monk hanging around, th...

I think you hit the nail on the head PNC. At the end of the day, these are businesses, not charities. (unfortunate reality for the many passionate ride fanatics)

Re: Let's do something to bring back Rainbow

Jaffa pretty sure that is actually the top of their Watkins Swinger, BUT they are indeed making progress on Turbo - those little round things everywhere are the cars (you can see the flat Turbo trailer further to the right)

Good stuff TG!! well done and thanks for sharing. Have always been in awe of the Hurricane. Incredible design idea, incredible technology (especially given its age) Yes it's a very tidy unit all right.

Re: Dean Davis Zipper

A Zipper also needs a very technically-minded (and confident) owner. Many potential owners would be scared off by its 'technology' (for want of a better word) ...on the plus side, it doesn't use any PLC's that require a computer engineer to fix, when the start button doesn't want to work!

Re: Dean Davis Zipper

I think $50K for a high capacity, still-popular, easy to transport ride like the Zipper is way under-priced, it really depends on how well it's been looked after. "ready to operate" doesn't mean a whole lot without seeing and hearing it run with your own eyes and ears with a complex baby l...

Re: Rainbow For Sale

TG / Princess, I disagree, if OCS had been given the green light it was on at RES 2011 I'm sure it would have had the cosmetic work it requires (which is not a lot, given what work was already done to it a few years ago)

What's the Hurri like to work on? it looks like a great ride to be working on (small area to walk... great to watch and would be very enjoyable and challenging to operate compared to, say, some computer controlled push-button ride)
